The first episode in my new animated series about Shermy is out on YouTube now! I made this first episode as part of my major project for my Multimedia in high school, and I'm super happy with how it turned out.
Massive thank you to everyone that has commented and shown support. It's really surreal getting feedback from complete strangers saying they enjoyed the episode, I appreciate it heaps and I'm super excited to put out the next episode soon!

There's a bunch of extra stuff I had to over-explain like my choice of hardware and software, character 'design' sheets, financial plan, complete screenplay and evaluations in order to get marks, but later in the document I sort of explain my production process in finer detail.
I made this animation for my HSC Visual Art Major Project, and I'm finally allowed to publish it now that marking is over. This is one of two animations I made this year for school, I'm very excited to release Shermy's Forest Episode 1 in the coming days.
I wrote this statement for the project:
"Florian" explores the subtleties of human experiences, the subconscious and the intersection between natural and artificial forms. The character Florian represents an individual perspective that slowly fragments through an unavoidable cycle of death and rebirth, rapidly transitioning between disorienting liminal spaces.
By combining 2D and 3D animation, photographic imagery, analog glitch effects, and a tactile VHS aesthetic, these ideas are amplified to communicate abstractions, offering alternative interpretations of these experiences in a way that retains a level of ambiguity.
I was actually tweaking when I made this. I was having such a weird day and sort of put it all into context by filming this. I made the music in Ableton and generated the voices using AI for the first time. I think AI is fun for doing weird unpractical things like this, I still don't believe it's a necessary invention.
The second animation I made for Media Puzzle. I liked making this one because I was actually given a prompt on what to make the video about and the meaning of the song. Setting the limitations of a project before starting, especially if it's a commission is really helpful, otherwise I get really lost in the pressure of what it could be.
I animated this music video for Media Puzzle a.k.a Tom who plays bass in Liminal with me. It was lots of fun to make and kind of took me a while at the time. I love egg punk and you should definitely go and listen to Media Puzzle if you haven't already.
I made this one a while ago but I still think it's ok enough to add to the site. I had the idea for making this one for ages and every time I went to record voice-overs I just didn't really improvise all the 'right' jokes I guess. I put this animation together by basically splicing together all the good bits from a lot of takes over a couple months. My instagram is no longer @colour.donkey as well.
